Coloured Business Cards
Business cards are an essential part of any business. Printing your business card in colour can have a lasting impression on your clients or business partners. Business cards can also be printed on a digital copier, which uses toner baked onto the surface of the card. However, these cards generally have to be printed on lighter stocks so as to not damage the copier. Printing your business card using offset printing allows for better quality especially with regard to colours, as you can use any colour from the Pantone colour catalogue, whereas with digital printing you can only use CMYK.
Offset printing is the most common form of high-volume commercial printing, due to advantages in quality and efficiency in high-volume jobs. While modern digital presses from Xerox and HP are getting closer to the cost/benefit of offset for high-quality work, they have not yet been able to compete with the sheer volume of product that an offset press can produce. So if you want to produce the best-looking coloured business cards, you should consider going with an offset printer.
Business card colour printing is an intensely competitive business, with a number of companies even offering free business cards. Be forwarned however, that for many of the companies that offer this service, their "angle" to make money is to harvest your email address so as to bombard you with email. This may not be desirable in the long run.
You really have to considered who owns the data. Local printers such as Printcraft Solutions have privacy policies in place which means your company information is kept confidential. If you want to print your business cards online, then at the very least you should read the online agreement that should be posted on the web site, to ensure that the company information on the business cards won't be sold to marketers.
